Daily, i already read that thread because i did start with googling. But i diodnt get any of the things that fixed their stuff to work. I did what the 2nd post suggests, and it didnt work. And as far as the router thing that is posted about further down - I dont know how to fix that if that is my problem. I know i'm supposed to be able to access the router by typing in the IP address in the addressbar. But it just times out when i try that. So I dont know.

I miss you btw! Happy new year!

The post further down and other hits on google all suggest it has something to do with your router settings.
All of them mention an Asus router, so if you don't have an Asus router then it probably doesn't apply to you.

The posts suggest your router has a virus filter that doesn't let you connect to malicious websites.
One of the files that the update program needs gives a false positive, and therefor it doesn't let you connect to it.

To fix this you need to disable that feature on your router settings page.
To get to that page you have to enter the router's ip address (also called default gateway). (See below to find that ip address)
On the settings page you hopefully don't need a password, if you do you would need to google for a default password for your router type.
Then look for some option that is enabled and blocks malicous sites and disable it. (Reddit suggests it is called 'AIProtection - Block dangerous sites')
Wait a minute and see if it worked, perhaps reboot the router as well.

//Getting the default gateway ip-address
Open a run-window (WinKey + R)
Type cmd and press enter (A black command promt window will open)
Type ipconfig and press enter
This will list all your connection, it will show the default gateway ip-address that you need to enter in the address bar.

//PS
I miss you too!

Btw did you install Windows 10 or do anything significantly different compared to when you first got your computer? (such as changing isp and modem/router)
As a last resort thing: did you have a 4G little modem kinda thing? It could be possible to hook up your computer to that and try downloading the Synapse update via mobile internet, maybe via tethering.

I'm sure theres more intelligent and practical solutions but i havent slept yet and just wanted to pretend to be helpful while i chuckled at the Benny Hill Luria computer show.
